Collection, 1849-1863, contains minute books, reports, a cashbook, and some miscellaneous financial papers, including receipts, a list of securities, and a draft of the 1859 extension of the deed of trust, documenting the decisions, investments, labors, and fund raising activities of the Trustees of the Building Fund of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Most of this material was produced or assembled by George Bacon Wood, as chairman of the trustees, or George Fox, as treasurer.

At a meeting of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia on 6 Nov. 1849, George Fox proposed a committee to determine the cost of a lot and construction of a building as a permanent home for the institution.
